Problem with Filming
After being out filming and coming back to edit the scenes together it came to my attention that I have been using the camera incorrectly during this particular filming session. I was unaware that the camera was already recording so when I was pressing the record button to begin filming the scene I was actually stopping the recording. this issue has set me back a little bit with my time scale however I am currently arranging another day with the actor to re-film the scenes.

Manipulating Image
Learning how to use the different adjustment features on Photoshop has definitely been a highlighting moment for me throughout the course. As you can see in the presentation below I made the decision to edit the two background pictures as separate layers. This meant I had to go back to the location where the photo shoot had took place in order to take pictures of the setting itself. Once I had done this and finished editing both images I simply placed the coloured image on top of the black and white one. My idea to do this stemmed from the ending of the film where Imogen takes her own life because of this I wanted to represent her leaving the earth in the film poster in order to catch the audiences attention which could then lead onto them wanting to watch the film.
Film Poster Draft 2
Below I have uploaded a presentation of the progress of my poster. Something that I found quite difficult to do was drawing the line underneath the title as I was originally using the mouse on the computer because this was proving to be such an issue I used a graphic table in order to draw the line free hand then uploaded it onto my account.

Film Poster Draft 1
Starting my poster after a couple weeks of planning and research has been quite exciting I have been working closely alongside a style model film poster for the film Dear John ensuring that all the key features are in a similar place in order to make my poster look authentic.

Film Poster Font
When looking at the different fonts on Photoshop available for me to use I came to the conclusion that I wasn't satisfied with any of them, none of them offered me the style that I wanted so I decided to download a few different fonts from the website 1001 fonts. As I want a font that looked as if it had been handwritten I went straight to the section on the website and spent a couple hours going through them all. Below are the two fonts that I am stuck between I've downloaded each one in both black and white as I am unsure what colour my background for my poster will be at this point. I am planning on setting the layout of my poster out first then seeing which font looks better.

Photo Shoot for Poster
Today I spent the with Olivia taking pictures in city centre for my film poster I took pictures in a few different locations before making my mind up on one particular location. I have included a select few of the images I took in a presentation below and discussed what I like and dislike about them.
Footage I'm Unable to Use
This is one of the first pieces of footage I took on this particular filming day, because of this the actor was feeling a bit uncomfortable being out in public and filming on her own for the first time. I am unable to use this footage as the actor is laughing throughout the footage and just looks as though she feels quite awkward. Another issue with this piece of footage is that the sun is reflecting through the beans on the bridge making it hard to see her face at certain points throughout the clip.

Day 3 of Filming
Today myself and Olivia headed back to the sets of scenes 3 and 4 in order to finish filming the scenes. In order to make sure it was in the exact same location I downloaded my footage from when Ryan was also with us. Once we had filmed the remaining of these scenes we then headed down to the quayside to film scene 6, the scene in which Imogen finds out Mason is with someone else. Although at the time I thought filming went really well I encountered a few problems which I will update you on in the near future. I am currently working on overcoming this problem.

Review Progression
I have created a Kizoa to document my review progress from start to finish. I am extremely happy with the end result as I believe it looks really authentic. I have been using a review article from the magazine Little White Lies as my style model however I changed a few features to put my own personal touch on it.

Final Review
I have changed a couple features on my review however the main layout is the same. I have changed the rating from out of 10 to out of 5 as Little White Lies rate the films out of 5. I have also used the justify tool to ensure that the writing aspect of the view fills each column from one end to the other and removed the gaps between each paragraph as this is how my style model present their reviews.

Behind the Scene's Footage
When looking at the footage I have filmed I came across this piece of footage. This quite accurately displays the personality of the actors in the film and shows what they were getting up to before filming for that day began.

Day 2 of Filming
So today I headed out to Newcastle city centre in the early hours of the morning with Olivia and Ryan in order to film the flashback scenes which are scenes 3, 4 and 5. My plan for this particular day was to film scenes 3 and 4 then head to South Shields in order to film scene 5 at the market I have permission to film at. However filming the scenes took longer than I anticipated meaning I only had time to film the cuts from the scenes where Imogen and Mason are on their dates before I had to leave to travel to the market. Due to this I am currently arranging a time with Olivia where we can go back to Newcastle and finish filming the scenes.

Writing the Review
Writing the actual review that will feature in my article was extremely rewarding for me. To ensure that I had included all of the typical conventions of a romance genre film review I worked closely with a style model to ensure I didn't miss out any key aspects.

Evidence of Filming
Yesterday myself and Olivia headed out to begin filming and managed to stick to schedule and film the 3 scenes that I was planning on filming. I am currently looking at the footage I have recorded and am extremely pleased with the majority of it. I ensured that I recorded aspects of the scene from different angles and positions to ensure if a problem occurred I would have other footage to use. This also allows me to have a variety of different shots to chose from when editing my film together. Below are two cuts that I filmed yesterday.

Day 1 of Filming
Today myself and Olivia (Imogen) headed out to begin filming. Sticking to my filming log sheet we filmed scenes 1, 2 and 7 as they were all being filmed in the same location. Before heading out I ensured that I was confident with using the equipment however I did struggle to get the tripod level to start with meaning I had to re-film a couple cuts as I wasn't happy with the angle of the camera. Tomorrow I am planning on re-watching all of the footage so that I can start to edit the scenes together.

Final Script
Since my last draft I haven't made any changes to the context of my script however, I have done some research into the layout of scripts and as a result of this have added in an information section at the start of each scene. This allows the script and storyline to be more clear to the actors as they know where they'll be and which other characters will be present.

Contacting Locations (update)
After contacting many locations and being let down by a fair few of them I have finally received permission from a local market to film on their premise. Although not the type of location I was originally planning on using I believe this location will play an important part in making my film look as realistic as possible.

Character and Narrative Theory (My Own Film + The Notebook)
I have created a mindmap that compares character and narrative theory to my own film as well as a successful authentic film (The Notebook). This has allowed me to see which aspects of the theories are present in a real romance genre film and which ones are present in mine allowing me to see if I need to make any final minor changes to the storyline, characters etc. After comparing the two I am happy with my storyline and characters for the time being.

Problem
Recently I have received a phone call from the library I was planning on filming in informing me that it is no longer possible for me to film there due to them fearing it may disturb their customers because of this I have had to take time out to contact other possible locations and I am currently waiting to hear back from them.

Script Draft 2
I have changed quite a few scenes in my film due to not being 100% happy with them. I have removed what were scene 2 and scene 9 which were present in my first draft and changed the location of was scene 7 in my first draft. As well as this I have added in an extra scene at the end where Imogen receives a text from Mason. I am now happy with the context of my script and believe my next draft should be my final one.

Research into Flashbacks
As a key element of my film is going to be the flashback scenes I figured it would be a good idea to do some research into them and how to successfully feature them within a movie. Below are just a small selection of some of the advice I came across.
